Lower those expectations
You are going to pay
Pay higher grocery & gas bills
Did you notice that you are paying more at the grocery store lately? Yea you did. You be right. The consumer price index increased 5.4%-all items, food was 4.6% and gasoline up 42% in the last twelve months (Sep 21).
Inflation Expectation have reached the highest level in more than a decade.
Reason 1) Surging energy costs, clogged shipping lanes, port congestion, supply chain disruptions, a shortfall of truck drivers, and shortage of labor have all been contributing to inflationary pressures.
Reason 2) The last round of federal stimulus, when added to the previous, programs succeeded in pumping up consumer spending, aggravating the inflation problem.
A majority of Americans that are working are watching their income increase by less than inflation. So, they are working harder to have less. If you are earning $50,000 per year and you get a 2% increase to $51,000 but inflation increases 5.4% you will actually have $1,700 less to spend on living. The current “Ruling Class” in Washington is saying “Lower those expectations”.
What could be done is for the “Ruling Class” to open up XL pipeline, reduce restrictions on the other US energy supplies. Twelve months ago, the US had available sufficient energy in production to meet demand. Increasing supply will reduce gasoline prices at the pump, that would be a great start.
A labor shortage? Why is there a labor shortage? Could it be that the federal bonus payments to the unemployed during shutdown, taught workers they can live just as well not working. Why work for $12.00 per hour for 40 hours = $480 per week? When can you get $400 unemployed? For $2 an hour why bother? Some bonus payments amounted to $15 per hour for some. The federal bonus ended at the end of September.
Where have those approximately 3,000,000 plus workers gone? They are not counted as part of the work force in the federal statistics. Will they return to the work force and reduce the labor shortage?
The “Ruling Class” has indicated no interest in addressing the energy supply or the labor shortage. The current $3.5T bill in congress only has more dollars for more people not working.
If you would like your earnings to buy more, run away from any candidate that wants to give “free” stuff to voters that vote for “me”. You will pay for the free stuff to others. Vote for the candidate who will work to get the US energy supplies back online.
